Y1/CITYVISION – Independent Architecture Stuff – REPORT

On Friday, September 16th 2011 CityVision magazine organized in Rome at the MAXXI, the National Museum of XXI Century Arts, the event Y1/CITYVISION Independent Architecture Stuff , curated by Francesco Lipari and Vanessa Todaro (OFL architecture).

The evening opened with Pippo Ciorra, Senior Curator of MAXXI architecture giving an institutional greeting.

The presentation of CityVision has been taken care of by Francesco Lipari, founder and creative director of the magazine. With a succession of eye-catching images Lipari has unveiled the work made by Cityvision in just one year and a half through the three issues of the magazine, two international competitions, several events and the faces of all the magazine’s collaborators , including the components of the editorial staff: Vanessa Todaro (co-founder and managing editor), Maria Azzurra Rossi (editor and graphic designer), Mark Arciero (marketing manager) and Paolo Emilio Bellisario (responsible for external relations).

Great expectation for the first lecture in Italy by the newyorker architect Joshua Prince-Ramus (REX Architecture), recently named among the top 5 of under 50 architects in the world. The Prince-Ramus lecture, who presented some of its most important projects and realizations, has excited and engaged the audience for an hour and a half.

After the lecture the award ceremony of the winners of Venice CityVision, a competition of ideas that took place from February to June 2011 having as jury members people like Bjarke Ingels, Neri Oxman, Elena Manferdini, Bostjan Vuga and Maria Ludovica Tramontin.

During the evening the presentation of the Special Issue 4 – Autumn 2011 of CityVision magazine and the launch of the 2012 international competition featuring the Big Apple: New York CityVision.

The auditorium was sold out and unfortunately many people couldn’t get in and waited outside the museum with the hope of being able to attend the event.

The evening then continued with a drink in the outer space of the museum and then it moved to the center of Rome.

A rewarding job for the organizers who are ready for new appointments as Y1 in order to stimulate new debates on contemporary architecture.

CityVision once again confirms itself as a permanent lab that aims to develop a new architecture concept, so the modern city and its future image interact to update the skyline of our cities.

Venerdì 16 settembre CITYVISION magazine ha presentato al MAXXI, Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo, Y1/CITYVISION Independent Architecture Stuff, evento d’architettura indipendente a Roma, curato da Francesco Lipari e Vanessa Todaro (OFL architecture) ed interamente organizzato dalla redazione di CityVision.

Ad aprire la serata, i saluti iniziali di Pippo Ciorra, Senior Curator del MAXXI architettura.

La presentazione di CityVision è stata invece affidata a Francesco Lipari, ideatore e direttore creativo del magazine. Con una successione di immagini accattivanti Lipari ha svelato il lavoro svolto in appena un anno e mezzo di attività da Cityvision attraverso i tre numeri del magazine, i concorsi internazionali, gli eventi e i volti di tutti i collaboratori della rivista, tra i quali i componenti della redazione: Vanessa Todaro (co-fondatrice e managing editor), Maria Azzurra Rossi (editor e graphic designer), Marco Arciero (responsabile marketing) e Paolo Emilio Bellisario (responsabile relazioni esterne).

Grande l’attesa per la prima lecture in Italia dell’architetto newyorkese Joshua Prince-Ramus (REX Architecture), recentemente nominato tra i 5 migliori architetti al mondo under 50. L’intervento di Prince-Ramus, che ha presentato alcuni fra i suoi più importanti progetti e realizzazioni, ha entusiasmato e coinvolto per un’ora e mezza tutto il pubblico in sala.

Spazio poi alla premiazione dei vincitori provenienti da tutto il mondo di Venice CityVision Competition, concorso di idee svoltosi da febbraio a giugno 2011 e che ha avuto come giurati Bjarke Ingels, Neri Oxman, Elena Manferdini, Bostjan Vuga e Maria Ludovica Tramontin.

La serata ha visto anche la presentazione della Special Issue 4 – Autumn 2011 di CityVision magazine e il lancio del nuovo concorso internazionale della rivista con protagonista la Grande Mela: New York CityVision.

L’auditorium ha registrato il tutto esaurito al punto che, purtroppo, in molti non sono riusciti ad entrare attendendo fino alla fine all’esterno del museo con la speranza di poter assistere all’evento. La serata è poi proseguita con un aperitivo nello spazio esterno del museo per poi spostarsi nel centro della città.

Soddisfatti gli organizzatori dell’evento che si sono già detti pronti per nuovi appuntamenti come Y1 in grado di stimolare il dibattito sull’architettura contemporanea. CityVision si conferma così ancora una volta un laboratorio permanente che mira a elaborare un concetto d’architettura inedito, dove le città di oggi e le corrispondenti immagini future interagiscono per scoprirsi un’unica materialità.
