Earning money? I don’t know anything about business. Business? It implies risk, but people say that risk is the safest investment. Speculating with time? It doesn’t matter. Energy, time and lots of pain. Our logic likes pain and our irrationality enjoys pleasure. Is sex for pleasure too obvious? Is working for money too obvious? Let’s earn money to do things with which we don’t earn any money. Can I earn money with things that I don’t do? Can I money things earning? Can things earn money? I get confused. I believe on unproductiveness from the most efficient point of view. But it needs to be self-made. Masochism is pleasure for oneself, but always reject masochism for the sake of others’ orgies where one is neither invited to touch nor allowed to watch. My first salary for a three months internship in a European architecture office was a black and white postcard from New York inside a white envelope. Maybe I should produce my own postcards, I thought. It’s something I learnt from New York. My second salary for an intense summer internship, under tourist visa, was meant to be one daily meal plus a subway monthly pass. I quit via email. They call me unprofessional. Third experience: do you want to work – they call it work – at least 14 hours a day 7 days a week? One euro the hour (and it was before the crisis). Yes? You start today. I hope you have brought with you everything you need to move to the Netherlands right now, without us telling you. No? Never mind. Next, please. E n o u g h. Let’s wake up, invent something new and be thanked for the postcards that arrive just on time.

Guadagnare soldi? Io non so niente di business. Business? Implica un rischio, ma la gente dice che il rischio è l’investimento più sicuro. Speculare con il tempo? Non importa. Energia, tempo e un sacco di dolore. Secondo la nostra logica ci piace il dolore e la nostra irrazionalità gode di piacere. Fare sesso solo per provare piacere è troppo semplice? Lavorare per denaro è troppo semplice? Guadagniamo soldi per fare le cose con cui non si guadagnano soldi. Posso guadagnare soldi con le cose che non so fare? I soldi possono guadagnare le cose? Le cose possono guadagnare soldi? Sono confuso! Credere nell’improduttività dal punto di vista più efficiente. Ma deve essere una scelta personale. Il masochismo è il piacere per se stessi, ma occorre rifiutare sempre il masochismo se a vantaggio delle orge altrui dove si è invitati a non toccare e non si ha il permesso di guardare. Il mio primo stipendio per uno stage di tre mesi in un studio di architettura europeo è stato una cartolina in bianco e nero di New York all’interno di una busta bianca. Forse dovrei produrre le mie cartoline, pensai. E’ quello che ho imparato da New York. Il mio secondo stipendio per uno stage estivo intenso, con visto turistico, fu un pasto al giorno più un abbonamento mensile per la metropolitana. L’ho mollato via email. Mi dissero che non ero stato professionale. Terza esperienza: vuoi lavorare – lo chiamavano lavoro – almeno 14 ore al giorno 7 giorni alla settimana? Un euro l’ora (ed era prima della crisi). Sì? Inizi oggi. Spero che tu abbia con te tutto il necessario per trasferirti in Olanda subito, chiaramente. No? Non importa. Avanti un altro, per favore. B A S T A. Svegliamoci, inventiamo qualcosa di nuovo e cerchiamo di essere grati per le cartoline che arrivano in tempo.
