Tabula Rasa
The World’s urbanisation condition is drastic. The human’s constructive frenzy strongly impose itself on the landscape, only now became aware of its own actions and consequences and understand the terrible future. The modern man must be scared of this dreadful perspective. Future is day by day more disgusting than ever. It is necessary to react, now. Posed in an autocritic universal judgment, the modern man is obliged to analyse its actions during centuries. The ethernal dualism between good and evil is the keypoint in the fight against selfishness and greed of the frantic pace of t human behaviour The right man suffers from its inability to implement the changes, the small gesture of the individual and ‘insignificant to the entities’ of the problem. In Rio de janeiro speculation and increasing population have devoured every single square meter. The City climbs up the mountains around the bay where nature is still wild and luxuriant Over the years, the difference between poor and rich people is grown up in an impressive way. The opulent city with high-rise buildings and skyscrapers is the ambition and the culmination of everyone’s dreams. The favelas are seen as a ghetto, a repugnant reality to dismiss, but at the same time represent the most vivid area because of its cheapness. A city that is experienced by the individual places, and where the usual trip is represented by the shift home-point of interest-home. They don’t live the city in its entirety, beaches are the only true democratic space of aggregation, a no man’s land, where, stripped of labels of poverty’ or wealth the population is mixed in a stimulating rio carnival life. The current economic system has highlighted the huge gap between the two realities, it reached a point of no return, a moment in which is needed a drastic change. a revolution that overturned the “status quo”. An apocalyptic intervention that encourages the rebirth, a detachment from the inglorious past, laying the foundations for a new society reborn from its ashes for an equal future fair. Our foolish purposal is a reaction to the todays delirious habits. The project imposes itself on Rio de Janeiro as an element of land art, a concrete platform suspended on the ruins of the city of the past. It will erase the traces of past errors, sparing only a few points of historical interest, nature and sport: the magnificent old buildings, modern and contemporary, the luxuriant tropical nature, the crowded sports facilities and some remains of town as a warning to the future. The platform becomes a walkway from which to view the city saved and at the same time the foundations on which to build the new Rio de Janeiro.
