GLOBAL METHODOLOGY – QUOTIDIAN DYSTOPIAS Latin-america, a heterogeneous continent impossible to defined in a word, but easily abstracted by its passions: God and Soccer. In this side of the world the moral is as ambiguous as taking in numbers the most quantity of landmarks or religious sculptures and at the instant asks them in favor of the soccer team to beat the championship on Sunday. A space beyond territorial boundaries, relatively young, where the icons are assembled every day to the everyday needs; the European colonization abated ancestral ideas and globalization refers to this side of the world, as a place almost impermeable to a crisis that has the rest of the world summoned on a profound fatigue, one that practically does not affect in absolute, the Latin-american situation understood as always on state of crisis. Could then consider the idea of the device, to those elements as Cristo Redentor, have the peculiar ability to act as an engagement between the individual and its Physical and Metaphysical place. We move onto this approach, making “walk” this Sculpture, but as it will happen in Rio, it could occur in any other Latin-american City, where it’s Christ, its Saint, the scorer and or its local deity, constitute diverse reference, spatial as emotional to city’s inhabitants. Even the idea goes further of its Sculptural characteristics; the same could be a countless number of “Mega” structures that allow installations: dwelling, educative, administrative, sports facilities. “To play with the sacred landmark to the best worldly style”. To get at the proposal we understood the territory – Rio de Janeiro – loaded of its Portuguese, European and African heritage, established in a country in Latin-american soil, blessed among others with great soccer players and sports victories. We understood it from its spatial, geography, cultural, religious, constructive conditionings. There we identify two scopes, the functional city and the situational city. Functional city: is the support structure that allows the competitiveness in the world of the global spectacle, international tourism, free trade agreement, international awards of Urbanism. Situational City: the city that is not functional, the lived city, with auto regulation, auto construction, the paradise of the everyday expression of symbolism and local language. In Between this 2 scopes we can say that urban experience is configured in a young territory as Latin-america. We don’t deny that the city needs exchange with the world, what we intend to propose is that this comes in a more symmetrical way, when local identity is consciously configured by citizenship. “Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody” J. Jacobs. This is latin-america for locals, only then for the World to enjoy.
